kit check-list

🎒 ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO CARRY IN YOUR BACKPACK
- Rucksack (20–30 litres capacity — big enough but manageable).
- Water (at least 2 litres; hydration is critical for endurance and recovery).
- Waterproof jacket and trousers (taped seams preferred — quick changes in weather are common).
- Snacks/Food (bring a combination of high-energy foods: nuts, dried fruits, prepared pasta, cereal bars).
- Hat (either a sun hat or a warm beanie depending on the forecast).
- Fleece or extra warm layer (weather can turn cold even in good conditions).
- Small personal first aid kit (include blister plasters, painkillers like paracetamol, personal medication like inhalers, and sun cream).
👟 EQUIPMENT TO WEAR
- Suitable walking boots (ankle support is essential to prevent slips, trips, and bruises from rocky terrain).
- Walking socks (good quality to prevent blisters and maintain comfort).
- Breathable sports top (not cotton — helps regulate body temperature and manage sweat).
- Lightweight walking shorts and/or trousers (avoid jeans and tracksuits — they hold water and can cause chafing).
🌟 ADDITIONAL "NICE TO HAVE" ITEMS
- Walking poles (great for stability and taking pressure off the knees).
- Mobile phone (fully charged and ideally in a waterproof case).
- Camera (to capture those summit moments).
- Spare walking socks (a fresh pair at lunch can feel like a new lease of life).
- Gloves (even in summer, cold mornings can catch you out).
🧭 OPTIONAL EXTRAS
- Maps and Compass (handy for navigation if devices fail).
- GPS device (for reassurance on your route).
- Head torch (especially useful if walking during darker conditions or emergencies).
